Add New Content Area to Course Menu

A new content area can be a place for Tests and Quizzes, your Syllabus, or a place to store and organize any additional content that doesn’t fit on your other pages. Of the default course menu buttons, Content and Information are content areas. Content areas allow you to upload documents, create mashups or create assignments and assessments.

Steps

  1. Click on the blue plus (+) in the upper left corner of the Course Menu.
  2. Click Content Area.
  3. Name the Content area.
  4. Select available to users.
  5. Click submit.

Renaming Buttons

Instructors, teaching assistants, and course builders can rename the buttons in the course menu.

Steps

  1. Make sure Edit Mode is On.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the button name.
  3. Click Rename Link.
  4. Enter the new button name. When finished click on the green check mark.

Instructors, course builders, and teaching assistants can add dividers and subheaders to the course menu to make items easier to locate.

Adding Dividers

  1. When Edit Mode is ON in your course, click on the plus sign on the upper left side of the course menu.

  2. Click on Divider.
    The options menu appears, and the divider option is highlighted at the bottom of the menu.
  3. The divider will appear at the bottom of the course menu. Click and drag the divider to reorder it.

Adding Subheaders

  1. When Edit Mode is ON in your course, click on the plus sign on the upper left side of the course menu.

  2. Click on Subheader.
  3. Give the subheader a name and click Submit.
  4. The subheader will appear at the bottom of the course menu. Click and drag the subheader to reorder it.
