Course Evaluations

Mid-Semester Course Evaluations

The iSchool conducts Mid-Semester Course Evaluations near the halfway point of the semester to allow students to give input in the courses. The data collected will assist the faculty to potentially enhance the course during the existing semester as well as future offerings of the course. It is recommended that instructors alert students when evaluations will be sent and encourage students to complete them. If there are questions about the mid-semester course evaluation process, please contact Sheila Clifford Bova (sacliffo@syr.edu).

Mid-Semester Progress Reports

Mid-semester progress reports are completed by faculty halfway for each semester and contain critical feedback for the student

Final Course Evaluations

At the end of each semester, students are required to complete course evaluations that evaluate the course and the instructor.

At the iSchool, the online course evaluation process is facilitated by Sheila Clifford-Bova and is administered through Syracuse University’s Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) department.

The evaluations and instructions are initiated by Sheila through the OIRA system directly to students’ Syracuse University email accounts where the students access individual course links and pass codes to online course evaluations.   Dates are determined with OIRA on a semester by semester basis.  Instructors will receive individual evaluation results electronically via email from Sheila, which will include ratings and comments.  All evaluations remain confidential and anonymous.

It is recommended that instructors alert students when evaluations will be sent, and encourage students to complete evaluations, as their feedback will help enhance future course instruction. Throughout the course evaluation period, instructors will be sent emails that show the response rate of evaluations. If there are questions about the online course evaluation process, please email Sheila Clifford-Bova (sacliffo@syr.edu).
