  • Blackboard: Grade Center

    12:00 PM-12:15 PM
    2017-04-03

    Registration

The grade center is very customizable. Instructors can select which grades are displayed to students on their My Grades page, supply feedback to the students, create weighted columns and exclude certain assessments from final score calculations. Faculty can create grade columns for any activities or requirements they want to score such as projects, class participation or attendance. Data in the grade center is archived each week and can be retrieved from backup.

Students can benefit from seeing achievements or instructor feedback and, if necessary, adjust their approach to learning to improve performance.

Topics in this Quick Hit Session:

    • Creating a Manual Column in the Grade Center
    • Manually Enter Grades
    • Column Organization
    • Weighted Total Setup

This Quick Hit session will focus on how to create an interactive rubric and how to apply and use it with a Blackboard assignment.

Throughout the semester, the iSchool FCTL will host Quick Hits – 15 minutes sessions.  These sessions will be held in HH206F with an 8 people maximum in attendance.  Session time:  12:00 – 12:15 pm

This session will consider the purpose of measuring student engagement. We will identify which activities not only engage students but also produce quality analysis, which is critical to designing and adapting both online and face-to-face courses.

Some of the questions that we will show you how to answer are:

    • When are students logging into my course?
    • Which course resources/tools are being used most frequently?
    • Which discussions boards generate the most traffic?
    • What are the patterns of performance in an online assessment?
    • What are some of my opportunities for improvement?

Intended Audience: All Syracuse University Full time, Adjunct and Ph.D. Face-to-Face and Online Faculty.

Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
