Pre-Semester Action Items

If you are a new faculty member, haven’t taught in a while, or just want to make sure you have everything covered, please look over the New Faculty Checklist.

Faculty Profile on the iSchool website

Faculty are encouraged to create a profile on the iSchool website.  Your online profile is a place to highlight experience and interests. Profiles are visible from the Faculty Directory and from the Class Schedules.

To create or update an online profile:

  • Log into my.ischool by clicking the “login” button in the top right corner of any page on the iSchool website
  • Click on your name that now appears in the top right corner where the login button was previously
  • Click “Edit My Profile”
  • Complete the series of online forms and click “save profile”

If you create a new profile, an administrator must add you to the faculty directory. There is usually 24-hour turnaround time to add the profile to the proper directory. If you do not see your profile in the directory, please report the error.

Upload Syllabus

It is required that all instructors upload a syllabus to the iSchool my.iSchool dashboard on the iSchool website three weeks prior to the beginning of each semester.

Syracuse University NetID

First, you must activate your NetID. Your NetID will give you access to your Blackboard account, SUmail, MySlice account, the university’s wireless Internet (AirOrangeX) and provide access to create a personal website.

Listservs

The iSchool faculty-adjunct listserv provides relevant instructor information and announcements. All new instructors, fulltime and adjunct, are automatically added to this list-serv when your Net ID becomes active.

Blackboard (Learning Management System

The learning management system used for face-to-face and online courses at the iSchool is Blackboard. You must activate the University NetID account to use the system. There are resources to help set up Blackboard course(s).

Please do not forget to look at the pages for textbooksclassroom needs, and the What’s New section of iSchool Resources.
